Verify · Defensive OSINT

Your online exposure

Find out how much information about you is online and how to reduce it. The self-assessment stays in your browser: we neither send nor store your answers. You can also look up public figures (people with a Wikipedia article) to practise with open sources without profiling private individuals.

Who it is for: anyone who wants to protect their digital identity, OSINT students. Beginner level, about 15 minutes. For your usernames use Social media profiling.

1. Search for yourself

Type your first and last name: we prepare searches that open in your browser. Your name does not pass through EVIL's servers.

2. Exposure checklist

Tick what is true for you. The score updates immediately and stays on this page only.

Notice and terms of use

What we process. The self-assessment and the search about yourself stay in your browser. For public figures, EVIL queries Wikidata with the name you type and shows data already published by Wikidata and Wikipedia, without storing it.

Legal basis (Art. 6 GDPR). Reading data that a public figure has made known in their public role falls within the legitimate interest in study and information (Art. 6(1)(f)). There is no legal basis, however, for collecting and cross-referencing data about private individuals: that is why EVIL offers no searches by name, place of birth, company or alias on arbitrary people.

Informing the data subject (Art. 14 GDPR). Anyone who collects data about a person from sources other than that person must inform them. If you reuse a profile's data outside personal study (an article, a report, research), you become the data controller: assess the legal basis and your duty to inform.

Doxxing is forbidden. Collecting and spreading someone's personal data (address, phone number, relatives, workplace) to expose, intimidate or harass them is forbidden on EVIL and may be a criminal offence (for example unlawful data processing, Art. 167 of the Italian Privacy Code; stalking, Art. 612-bis of the Italian Criminal Code). See Ethics and law and Privacy and terms.
